Avangrid’s Early Career Programs Named in Top 50 in the United States by RippleMatch

Company’s Internship and Global Graduate programs earn top ranks

ORANGE, Conn. —January 10, 2024 — Today Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, announced today that its early career programs have been named among the best in the United States by RippleMatch in their 2024 Campus Forward Awards. Avangrid was selected among the Top 50 Midsize Early Career Programs for the company’s Internship and Global Graduate programs.
“Avangrid’s early career programs are the foundation of our workforce because they ensure we continue to acquire the industry’s top professionals,” said Pedro Azagra, Avangrid CEO. “To lead the clean energy transition, we need a skilled workforce. Our Internship and Global Graduate programs are critical to attracting, developing, and retaining talent.”

Avangrid earned top ranks for its ten-week Internship program that includes interactive workshops, networking events, and final presentations to business areas. Last year, Avangrid hired more than 100 interns who supported business-critical projects around the company, such as cloud migrations, green hydrogen, and union contracts. The experience prepares interns for successful careers by teaching them practical skills in a structured learning journey, challenging them with real-world projects, and connecting them with senior leaders.

Avangrid also earned high accolades for its Global Graduate rotational development program for early career employees. In this two-year program, participants grow their careers by continuing the structured learning journey, building connections with their coworkers, and achieving business-critical goals. The program rotates employees through three to four challenging assignments, including one abroad in an Iberdrola Group location such as Spain or Scotland. Upon completion of the program, employees transition into their permanent roles at Avangrid as future leaders or technical specialists.

“This recognition is a testament to the dedication of our Early Careers team,” said Kyra Patterson, Chief Human Resources Officer at Avangrid. “We go above and beyond to ensure our programs are a success—from having previous early career candidates staff career fairs and meet with applicants to coordinating the visa and relocation process for our Global Graduates. These tactics make a significant difference in creating a positive experience for students and young jobseekers.”

Campus Forward Award applicants were evaluated based on candidate experience, innovative recruitment strategies, approach to diversity recruiting, and internship and entry-level programs. Award-winning programs were carefully selected based on an assessment of these responses in comparison to companies in similar size categories. To see the full list of winners, click here
